The faculty at Penn State Harrisburg are...

One of the nicest and most helpful faculty I have ever met. They are all genuine people who truly do care about the success of students at Penn State Harrisburg. They are all so friendly and are more than will to help whenever they can. You get the sense of a personal connection with the faculty here at Penn State. Professors remember your name and which one of their classes you are from. All of the faculty here at Penn State Harrisburg are all so welcoming and easily approachable. They are also one of the reasons why I chose Penn State Harrisburg.

What is student life like at PSU Harrisburg?

Student life at PSU Harrisburg is really nice I would say. Freshman year is a big year to get involved and make friends and how student life is setup makes those challenges very easy. The freshman forms are all near each other so it is almost like you all live in your own neighborhood. There are tons of activities and clubs to get involved with and meet lots of new people. And of course, you will be meeting new people and making friends in your classes. You may even find some people have multiple classes with you. I would say personally, student life on campus is excellent and succeeds drastically in welcoming new students with open arms and giving them opportunities to get out there, meet new people, and get involved.

What advice would you give your high school self?

Advice I would give to my high school self is to not be afraid of big changes and especially college. College can be very overwhelming and scary in the beginning. You are moving away from home in most cases, you are leaving all of your friends and family, everything is foreign to you, and for the first time, you are living on your own. Of course you will have other roommates with you but you will not be living with your parents anymore. Embrace all the changes and go into college with a positive attitude. Everything is new and exciting. You will make lots of friends and they will all get to learn about you and where you come from and you will do the same with them.

Why did you choose Penn State Harrisburg?

I chose Penn State Harrisburg because my older brother went here when he was going through college. He graduated back in 2018 and he said he absolutely loved Penn State Harrisburg and would go back without even questioning it. As I was looking for colleges, I visited Penn State Harrisburg, even though my family knew so much about Penn State University already, and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I felt comfortable and welcomed on campus already and I was not even a student yet. Everything was already familiar to me and my experiences and education seemed very promising coming here. I also liked the size of the campus. It is that perfect middle ground where it is not to big but not to small. There is also a perfect balance on campus where during the week, it is alive and bustling with activities and students doing their own things. Then on the weekends, it is very relaxed and laid back, quiet and peaceful. Also, as I stated before, the staff and faculty here at Penn State Harrisburg are extremely helpful and friendly. I can say without a doubt that my family has become a Penn State family and we love everything about the University.
